How do I upload a web/html page and include its pictures?

Normally when you upload an html file into Blackboard, the pictures are not included and Blackboard will give you a "broken link" message. If you have only a few pictures, you can follow the instructions after the "broken link" message to re-attach the pictures, but this can be time-consuming if you have more than a few images. In this case you will want to take the following steps:

1. Make sure that you have WinZip or another compression program available on your computer. An evaluation copy of WinZip is available for free at www.winzip.com.

2. Select the html file and associated image files and compress them into one zip file.

3. Upload the zip file into Blackboard as you would normally do, but choose Special Action: Unpackage this file.

4. Blackboard will then ask you to identify the entry point. Select the html file. If you do not know which html file to choose, try the one called "index.htm". You can also try filename.htm where filename is the name you gave the original file.

5. If you want to upload multiple web pages (with or without images) that are linked to each other, compress all the web pages and images into one zip file. When Blackboard asks you to identify the starting point, select the html file that represents the first page you want to display.
