LABS AND FACILITIES

TITLE III LABS AT BMCC

Title III-funded computer labs and classrooms are designed to provide the best possible facilities in which faculty can both receive training and conduct their classes.  Considerable thought has gone into the design of each facility, with care to factor in faculty preferences.

Our facilities exhibit a number of highly regarded design innovations that have begun to be emulated around the campus, including:

  • The installation of high quality LCD projectors and oversize screens to enhance display capability.  Our labs all have projectors installed in pairs to enable the concurrent display of two images (typically a PowerPoint slideshow along with either an application or a website) in order to facilitate contrast and continuity.

  • The installation of either recessed workstations or LCD flat panels so as to both minimize sight-line problems and to extend writing surfaces.

  • The incorporation of a seminar area in each computer lab so as to encourage group discussion.

  • The installation of sound systems in order to create a multimedia environment.

  • The use of computer-controlled room locking systems so as to provide easy access without compromising security.

In addition, Title III has strengthened facilities in a number of other key College spaces, including the Teaching and Learning Center (new computers and a ceiling-mounted LCD projector), Nursing Department labs (oversize display screens), and the English Department lab (new computers).
